The multipart payload will therefore bypass detection. A vulnerable backend that supports these encoding schemes can potentially be exploited. The legacy CRS versions 3.0.x and 3.1.x are affected, as well as the currently supported versions 3.2.1 and 3.3.2. Integrators and users are advised upgrade to 3.2.2 and 3.3.3 respectively. The mitigation against these vulnerabilities depends on the installation of the latest ModSecurity version (v2.9.6 \u002F v3.0.8).","The OWASP ModSecurity Core Rule Set (CRS) is affected by a partial Encoding or Escaping of Output","The product prepares a structured message for communication with another component, but encoding or escaping of the data is either missing or done incorrectly. As a result, the intended structure of the message is not preserved.","Improper encoding or escaping can allow attackers to change the commands that are sent to another component, inserting malicious commands instead.\nMost products follow a certain protocol that uses structured messages for communication between components, such as queries or commands. These structured messages can contain raw data interspersed with metadata or control information. For example, \"GET \u002Findex.html HTTP\u002F1.1\" is a structured message containing a command (\"GET\") with a single argument (\"\u002Findex.html\") and metadata about which protocol version is being used (\"HTTP\u002F1.1\").\nIf an application uses attacker-supplied inputs to construct a structured message without properly encoding or escaping, then the attacker could insert special characters that will cause the data to be interpreted as control information or metadata. Consequently, the component that receives the output will perform the wrong operations, or otherwise interpret the data incorrectly.","Draft","Class","Simple",{"id":118,"name":119,"description":120,"extendedDescription":121,"status":122,"abstraction":115,"structure":116},"CWE-863","Incorrect Authorization","The product performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action, but it does not correctly perform the check.
