Which Ant vulnerabilities are being exploited?
This is the list that matters most: flaws criminals are using now.
None of Ant's published vulnerabilities is on the list of flaws known to be exploited today. We keep watching that list.
Which Ant flaws are most likely to be used?
Ranked by the latest exploit-likelihood forecast: the chance each flaw is used in an attack in the next 30 days. A high severity score on its own doesn't tell you that. Flaws shared by many other makers' products are left out.
- 8.0%CVE-2020-11979High
As mitigation for CVE-2020-1945 Apache Ant 1.10.8 changed the permissions of temporary files it created so that only the current user was allowed to access them.
- 2.6%CVE-2021-36374Medium
When reading a specially crafted ZIP archive, or a derived formats, an Apache Ant build can be made to allocate large amounts of memory that leads to an out of memory error, even for small inputs.
- 2.5%CVE-2021-36373Medium
When reading a specially crafted TAR archive an Apache Ant build can be made to allocate large amounts of memory that finally leads to an out of memory error, even for small inputs.
- 1.8%CVE-2020-1945Medium
Apache Ant 1.1 to 1.9.14 and 1.10.0 to 1.10.7 uses the default temporary directory identified by the Java system property java.io.tmpdir for several tasks and may thus leak sensitive information.

1 new flaw affects software Acme tracks
As mitigation for CVE-2020-1945 Apache Ant 1.10.8 changed the permissions of temporary files it created so that only the current user was allowed to access them. Unfortunately the fixcrlf task deleted the temporary file and created a new one without said protection, effectively nullifying the effort. This would still allow an attacker to inject modified source files into the build process.
